New 2007 1-Series and 5-Series
March 2007
BMW are launching the new 1-Series and 5-Series over the coming months.

The latest vehicles will feature tweaked engines, weight savings and "EfficientDynamics" technologies to produce cars with a hefty drop in CO2 emissions along with an increase in MPG and improved performance in several cases. The 1-Series will also expand to offer a 3-door version as well as the current 5-door.

Production of the old models will cease on the 1st March when the new models will begin to be produced.

The 1-Series (5-door) and the 5-Series models have a rolling launch and vehicles should be in dealerships for the public to view by the end of March 2007. The order lead-time will range from 8-12 weeks, but this can vary considerably from dealer to dealer. Any customers who have placed an order for a 1-Series or 5-Series by the 1st March but have not received their custom vehicle yet should have their order automatically switched to the newer 2007 version.

The 1-Series 3-door models have an official launch of 24th May 2007.

BMW allocate codes to their vehicles. These codes are not changing with the 2007 models because all the vehicles are considered to be undergoing a 'face-lift' as opposed to a complete remake. The BMW car codes are as follows, 1-Series 3-door and 5-door are known as the E81 and E87, respectively. The 5-Series Saloon and Touring are known as E60 and E61, respectively.

It is possible to order all types of the 1-Series and 5-Series, both old and new, now from all BMW dealerships and BMW will not stop selling the run-out models until there are no more left in stock. It is expected that they will have very few of the older models after March/ April.
