New Volvo XC

After its debut at the Detroit Motor Show, The Volvo XC60 Concept is set to make its first European appearance at the MPH Motor Show on the 1st November.

Volvo is attempting to merge boundaries with the design of the XC60. It portrays a muscular stance with all-wheel drive, raised suspension, 20 inch wheels and aluminium scuff-plates; in the same breath Volvo refer to it as having the 'sporty charisma of an elegant, sexy coupe'

The XC60 is equipped with Volvo Car's new safety system: City Safety. Designed to avoid low-speed collisions, City Safety will apply the brakes if a collision seems imminent.

The tailgate of the XC60 has a lower section that can be opened to store small items. Both top and bottom sections can be opened for full access into the boot. The lower section of the tailgate is darkened, but transparent from within- allowing increased visibility to the driver when reversing. The same darkened glass is used for the roof and attached on top of a Y-shaped structure.

The interior is modern and has a floating centre stack that houses touch-sensitive buttons, controls, and a screen for information and navigation. Coupled with such technical steps forward as the City Safety feature, the XC60 may well offer the company car market increased safety records and lower insurance bills. Will the City Safety become a standard feature across the range? Comcar will be taking a closer look at this one during the MPH 07 show.

Another XC model- the new XC70- also introduces a set of technical features with jet-engine style air intakes, water repellent glass windows, Hill Descent Control, and an all-new 6-cylinder geartronic engine.

Volvo has increased passenger leg-room in the XC70 and front seat width has also been increased by 30 millimetres at shoulder height. A power tailgate, 40/20/40 split rear seat, and Dynaudio Premium Sound system further sweeten the deal.

A new D5 5-cylinder engine is also available and On-The-Road prices start for the new XC70 at £31,035 for the 2.4 D5 SE. Check Our company car tax calculator for more.
