Nissan GT-R

Called simply, GT-R and billed as the spiritual successor to the Skyline GT-R. This car has been unleashed this week at the Tokyo Car Show. When the Skyline GT-R came out, back at the end of the 1980's it was immediately given the nickname 'Godzilla'.

The GT-R is fitted with the first Nissan designed independent transaxle 4WD system. The dual-clutch transmission is situated at the back of the GT-R to enable good overall vehicle balance. Apart from the usual benefits from this weight consideration, an ergonomic benefit allows the driver an increase in leg and foot room, which Nissan explains, also allows for an optimal pedal layout.

The heart of the "multi-dimensional performance machine" beats with a new 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 "VR38" engine capable of 480PS.

Available in Japan from 6th December 2007.
