Mercedes CLC
June 2008
Mercedes-Benz has just revealed its new entry level sports coupe, the CLC. Engineers took their stylistic cues from the S-Class, CL-Class, and C-Class and have newly developed or improved upon more than 1100 components from the previous Sports Coupe.
Engineers have included a direct-steer system in the CLC, with speed-sensitive power steering and a variable rack ratio. Newly designed Infotainment units offer colour-display, speed-sensitive volume control, Bluetooth mobile phone interface, and iPod or USB compatibility. Parktronic is another technological feature standard on all CLC models.
The 'athletic' CLC will either come with a four-cylinder engine and a standard six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission; or with a six-cylinder engine and the option of a 7G-TRONIC seven-speed automatic transmission, which is standard on the CLC 350.
Gearshift paddles on the steering wheel will allow drivers of the CLC Sport models to manually select gears on the automatic transmission.
The CLC 200 KOMPRESSOR is aiming to deliver 36.2 mpg and the CLC 200 CDI should do 48.7 mpg, improvements over the previous models.
In June of 2008 CLC models will enter Mercedes-Benz showrooms and they will be available for your perusal on Comcar as soon as pricing information becomes available.
