Change to new car registration fee

From 1st April 2008 the new car registration fee will go up from £50 to £55. In theory there will be no change to car prices for the purposes of calculating company car tax since this element of the price is not taxed. However many manufacturers will use the opportunity to issue new official price lists. One or two models may actually fall in terms of P11D price, as manufacturers will have to drop the basic price by £5 to absorb this extra registration fee and still keep the on-the-road price at key price points such as £9,995 or £19,999.
